Recording Guidance
Imagine if you could hit the ground running at the start of the session, maximising this precious time.
I have recorded dozens of commercial professional CDs with Polyphony, Gabrieli Consort, Academy of Ancient Music, Sonoro, BBC Singers, and Dunedin Consort, amongst others, giving me significant shop-floor experience of what is required during recording sessions.
Recording session time is very expensive for groups – imagine if you could hit the ground running at the start of the session, maximising this precious time.
I can guide your choir through the entire recording process:
Offering an initial consultation to discuss your objectives (from repertoire choice to preferred type of recording venue and acoustic to project timeframe).
Attending a rehearsal to hear your choir and advise on
recording venues – I have many years of experience singing at a wide variety of venues, from churches to studios. Having heard your choir, I can advise on appropriate venues to suit your sound and budget.
Selection of respected producers/sound engineers to suit your budget and your choir.
Attending an additional rehearsal before the recording sessions to provide a critical ear and advise your choir on how to use your recording time for maximum efficiency. Having sung in countless recording sessions, I have a huge amount of experience and know what works and how to help your choir sound at its best.
Providing extra professional singers if there are gaps in your choir (due to illness, for example), ensuring that your project can go ahead as planned.
Advising on any accompanist/instrumental fixing requirements.
Managing all venue bookings and logistics, making the process as smooth as possible.
I am very happy to arrange a free consultation meeting to discuss your requirements and help your choir fulfil their potential.
