My journey to choral fixing
“Ruth is a choral guru. She has both considerable experience as a performer and a first-rate knowledge of the choral scene.”
Julian Perkins (Cambridge Handel Opera/AAM)
My Story
During the height of the Pandemic, I was approached and invited to start fixing a high-profile choral group. Having worked in the choral industry as a singer for over 15 years, I had many ideas about singers and combinations of voices and I was delighted to be able to put these thoughts into practice.
Since starting my work, I have developed a broad portfolio of freelance choral fixing for a variety of professional groups:
Academy of Ancient Music – fixing groups of varying sizes, from small 8-part consort with step-out solos to larger choruses.
Polyphony – fixing choirs for concerts and recordings for both unaccompanied repertoire and orchestral repertoire.
Sonoro – fixing groups from 8 singers to 16 singers for concerts and recordings.
London Early Opera – fixing small ensembles with substantial step-out solos.
Choral Extras – my freelance fixing business, providing extra singers to sing with amateur choral societies.
